We made a quick trip to Lincoln over the weekend to watch Josh (10) play baseball. We brought Ben (5) home with us for 2 ½ weeks till the rest of his family comes out for a visit. As soon as we got home, Ben changed into his jeans and cowboy shirt so he could be a cowboy like Grandpa. In his little mind, he couldn’t even go outside on the farm if he didn't look like a cowboy like Grandpa.
Before 6:30 a.m. this morning, he was up, dressed in his cowboy duds and out the door, joining Grandpa as he “sits a spell” enjoying the fresh morning air before starting the day’s work. He wasn’t about to give up his “real” felt (hot) 10-gallon “Ben Cartwright” cowboy hat for a cooler, kid-friendly straw hat. Ben, however, isn’t completely happy because “I can’t be a real cowboy without boots!” He outgrew the pair he had here during his last visit.
I have two pair of boots in excellent shape found at garage sales, ready for the kids when they visit, but neither are in Ben's size. So it’s off to to see what we can find to get our little cowboy fit to follow in Grandpa’s footsteps. They have fence to fix, and ya can’t fix fence in tennis shoes!

I LOVE this. It makes me happy to see my kids enjoying my parents and vice versa! :)
