The Event ~ 46 Years Together

46 years together today. I would not change anything about the last 46 years. We have survived trials and reaped more than our share of good times and blessings. We enjoy good health, many friends, a loving and caring church family, and the love and respect of our three children and 12 grandchildren. Our home is built on the firm foundation of God our Heavenly Father and Jesus our Savior.

The Event ~ A Little Bit of Everything 2016

Oh my gosh, it's been awhile since I've blogged and I feel like I've forgotten a lot of eventful experiences.  So let's see what I can remember, in no random order.

Jonathan, 3rd oldest grandson who is now 14, spent six weeks with us on the farm.  It was his turn to come and be his grandpa's help.  And big help he was.  He was Johnny-on-the-spot whenever Grandpa needed something and he caught on quickly how to bale and swath hay and move big bales.  He stayed from Memorial Day weekend through July 7.  We were able to enjoy the antique cars at the Sugar Valley Rally, and the classic cars at the Classic Car Show.  We spent a lot of evenings playing games or putting puzzles together.  Jon has always been good at piecing puzzles.

We celebrated the graduation of our first grandchild, Jakob Andreasen.  Jakob has since enrolled in Nebraska Wesleyn University with hopes to major in Engineering and to play college football.  He had a very successful senior year football season in the fall of 2015, and Tim and I travelled to Lincoln every weekend for 9 weeks to watch him play football his senior year.

The BIG event of the summer was welcoming twin grandbabies, Charlotte Eva Stricker and Wyatt Thomas Stricker on June 10.   Charlotte arrived first, and weighed 5# 1 oz and Wyatt followed weighing 5# 9 oz.  Sister Penny has since proven to be a big mother's helper with the babies.

We enjoyed a very successful Stricker family picnic on Saturday, July 30 at the park in Scottsbluff.  There were 86 in attendance, including my mother and my cousin Sharon Allen who brought my mother here from Billings so she could see all the kids and grandkids.   Tim's Dad has always worked diligently to make this picnic happen, and this year was no exception.  At 92 years of age, it was his goal to get as many here as possible.  It was a fun time with a lot of new young children.  As usual, the little grandkids loved the farm animals.

For the first time ever, we actually took our dog in for a haircut and good bath at the Doggie-Do Salon.  It is something we just never did with our on-the-farm pets.  But Merle was shedding so bad in the house wee needed to clean up his shagginess.  Below are the before and after pictures of Merle.

And then there was the chicken in the sky. . . .

The Event ~ Lincoln Sports. . .

Enjoying the tailgate parties before the Husker game in Lincoln

Go big Red
We enjoyed about nine games of Jakob's senior year football games, which meant 9 Friday trips to Lincoln.

The Event ~ Summer 2015 and Then Some . . . .

Wow, time flies when having fun.  We started the summer with a family get together in Denver.  Janel and family and Alexis and Val  and Tim and I gathered together at Cash’s house over Memorial weekend.  Cash, Annie, Janel and Alexis then ran the Boulder-Boulder half marathon.  The rest of us hung out at the house enjoying Willa and Penny and playing games.  Later we just enjoyed quality family time together.

Jakob then stayed for about six weeks with us helping Tim on the farm.  Despite living in the city (Lincoln), Jakob and his brothers have always been easily and quickl;y transformed into farm boys whenever they get an opportunity to spend extended time on the farm with us.

Later Millie came out for a week.  We went shopping at Goodwill and made lots of cookies!

At end of August we embarked on the first Friday of 8 Fridays to travel to Lincoln for Jakob’s Friday nite football games.  They were fast trips, especially when we returned home on Saturday.  But each trip was a fun time getting to watch both Jakob and Josh play varsity football.  Jakob wanted to take me to his homecoming dance, but I found him a younger girl to go with.
At some point during the summer/fall season I took down my Americana collection that has been a part of my living room for 20+ years.  Will sell most of it at the auction or garage sale.

Again, we enjoyed the Stricker family picnic that has been organized by Tim's parents for the last several years.

Branding 2015

Some posts tend to repeat themselves from year to year.  Branding has become a family event that the kids enjoy coming home for, and bringing their friends as well.   The pictures below speak for themselves!
