The Event ~ A F-f-f-f-f-un - filled Weekend Away!

Tim and I shared a fun weekend on the road.  We left early Friday morning to head east to Eagle to see the grand kids.  We went a different route and enjoyed the road trip along the old Highway 2 going through all the little towns from Alliance to Grand Island.  The annual 300 mile Junk Jaunt was going on in all those little towns; but as usual, we were in a hurry to get to our destination where supper and grand kids were waiting.  So we only made about five quick stops along the way and saw nothing but junk!  Didn't find any treasures.  To actually enjoy the junk jaunt would take a good two days. But that wasn't our agenda.

We did stop for a quick visit with friends Dave and Jesse Goertz, but limited that to only about 30 minutes.  It was good to see them again.  They are good friends we met through church, but they moved about eight years ago.

We arrived at Eagle about 8:00 pm, just in time for supper.  We enjoyed driving right into a full harvest moon as we approached Eagle.  I snapped a few pictures.

Saturday was a leisure day ending with us gathered around the tv to watch the Nebraska football game, always a favorite fall activity.    After a quick half-time supper they all surprised me with  birthday cupcake treats and a special homemade banner card ~ always the best kind ~ homemade that is.

Janel made special cowboy hat cupcakes and horse cupcakes.    It was fun!  A few days early, but special to celebrate the occasion with the kids.

Sunday we enjoyed the opportunity to watch Jakob play football!  He has desire, determination, and dreams to someday be on that Nebraska Husker team.  What a beautiful fall day!  Following the game we all stopped for an ice cream treat and a group picture before heading home.  A wonderful weekend event!

So glad you came for the weekend. We enjoyed all of it. Next time we'll have to keep you in bed longer so you can have breakfast in bed on the Celebrate plate. :)
