The Event ~ Happy New Year 2011

Out with the old ~ in with the new.  Welcome 2011!

We spent January 1, 2011 with cousins sharing a German meal at George and Ann Liakos house.  Connie, Rich, Richie, Linda, Lyle, Kelsey, Katie, Andrew, Grandma, Grandpa and Tom gathered together.  We shared chicken noodle soup and butterballs, kadova and glace, blackberry dumplings, garlic sausage and rye bread, and apple and cherry dinna kucken. 

We hosted the same event last January 1 at our house, and the cousins all thought it merited a repeat this year.  Maybe a new tradition is born!  I remember thirty years ago or so I tried to do the same thing with cousins on New Year's Day.  I did it two or three years in a row, and it never got any further than that.  It is always a fun time to gather with extended family.  We just don't do it often enough. 

We all played some Blockus and Rumikub games most of the afternoon.  At 6 pm we finished off all the leftovers before heading home.  An eventful way to start the new year with friends and family.  Happy New Year 2011.
